Before EVDO Rev-A was rolled out in my area I did a speed test and saved the results to see how much of an improvment I would get when Verizon switched things over. Onto the results:
EVDO
- DSLReports
Down: 619kbps (77KB/s)
Up: 118kbps (14KB/s)
Speedtest.net
Down: 444kbps (55KB/s)
Up: 127kbps (16KB/s)
Speakeasy
Down: 345kbps (43KB/s)
Up: 119kbps (15KB/s)
EVDO Rev-A
- DSLReports
Down: 482kbps (60KB/s)
Up: 322kbps (40KB/s)
Speedtest.net
Down: 521kbps (65KB/s)
Up: 137kbps (17KB/s)
Speakeasy
Down: 835kbps (104KB/s)
Up: 211kbps (26KB/s)
For the most part the speeds were only slightly better. Only in one case was the EVDO Rev-A slower, but that could have been the server I was connecting to at the time. If you have mobile broadband from another provider put your speed test results in the comments section.

all my speedtest results are here:

FYI, EVDOMaps.com is a free google mashup (provided by http://www.EVDOinfo.com) that displays speedtest results by members of http://www.EVDOforums.com
Thanks for the link, now I know what kind of speeds I can expect in different places I may travel to.
