Twitter was the big breakout of last years SXSW conference but to be honest I just didn’t get it. I opened an account when it was labeled as the “next big thing” just to see what all the buzz was about. Turned out that it just wasn’t for me. A year later I decided to give it another shot and this time around it makes much more sense.

Twitter is a social network that allows you to post a simple 140 character broadcast (AKA tweet) to the individuals who choose to “follow” you. In turn you choose to “follow” individuals and receive their tweets. You can also respond to individuals using the @ function or send a direct private message.

I have found it to be a great place to network with other bloggers and industry people as well as family and friends. It’s a simple concept that just works and is actually a lot of fun when you begin to follow more people and listen to what they have to say. Twitter is full of interesting people. Follow me on Twitter.
